The Belgian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce (BCECC) welcomed a Chinese delegation from Hubei Province to introduce the province’s and Ezhou Huahu Airport’s attractive business opportunities and bring different Belgian and Chinese stakeholders in touch with each other on 14 March. The event “Hubei Ezhou Investment Forum: Land & air logistics” featured speeches by Hubei Provincial Department of Commerce’s Port Division Director Yao Haifeng and Hubei International Logistics Airport Co.’s Deputy General Manager Luo Guowei.

Ezhou Huahu Airport aims to open international cargo routes between China and Europe, specifically to Liege Airport. The airport is also seeking to learn from the management and operations of Liege Airport to develop an advanced operation and management model, and establish a world-class air cargo hub by partnering with leading enterprises in the supply chain industry. Furthermore, Hubei Province is planning to hold the Hubei International Logistics Summit and Ezhou Huahu Airport Promotion Conference in Ezhou this April to promote the development of international logistics and encourage relevant Belgian companies to visit the airport.

Ezhou Huahu Airport is the first professional cargo hub airport in Asia and the fourth in the world. The airport comprises airport engineering, transshipment center, SF Airlines company’s base project and oil supply project. It aims to handle 1 million passenger throughput and 2.45 million tons of cargo and mail throughput by 2025, and 1.5 million passenger throughput and 3.3 million tons of cargo and mail throughput by 2030. The airport began operation in July 2022 and is currently in its early stages of development, particularly with respect to international cargo business.
