New Chinese Ambassador to the EU addresses EU-China relations and beyond during the BCECC’s Meet & Greet

On March 16, 2023, newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to the EU, H.E. Fu Cong, attended a meeting organized by the Belgian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce (BCECC) and delivered a keynote speech in a particularly candid and open atmosphere to over 50 people in the Belgian-Chinese business community. Ambassador Fu emphasized that China’s domestic and foreign policies will maintain continuity and stability in the long run, and that China will align itself with high-standard international economic and trade rules and further expand its opening up to bring new opportunities for companies to invest in China. He also stated that stability and continuity are key words in China’s foreign policy, and that China-EU comprehensive strategic partnership will continue to prioritize friendship and cooperation. Additionally, Ambassador Fu had candid exchanges with the delegates on topics such as China’s economic development prospects, expanding market opening, the China-EU Investment Agreement, China-Europe Railway Express cooperation, and traditional Chinese medicine cooperation, as well as current hot topics such as the Taiwan Strait and the war in Ukraine.
