On June 3, the Belgian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce (BCECC) hosted the event “Regional Business Opportunities in Changping, Beijing – The future Science City” in Gent, bringing together participants from the Belgian and Chinese business communities, public institutions, and innovation sectors. The event provided a valuable platform to explore the business landscape and cooperation potential of Beijing’s Changping District and to connect with key representatives from the Chinese delegation.
The program opened with welcome remarks by Mr. Bernard Dewit, Chairman of the BCECC, followed by a speech by the Changping District Government. The Changping District Health Commission then presented an overview of the district’s key industrial sectors, highlighting its strengths in advanced energy, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, advanced manufacturing, cultural tourism, and sports-related industries.
During the expert sessions, a Deloitte Belgium representative, Ms. Virginie De Brabandt offered valuable insights into Belgium’s industry and innovation ecosystem, while the Europe China Joint Innovation Center presented on economic zones in China, outlining current trends and opportunities for European companies seeking business development and partnership in China.
Following the formal programme, participants gathered for networking drinks, offering an excellent opportunity to exchange ideas, build new connections, and explore future cooperation between Belgian and Chinese stakeholders.
