The objective of an Ambassador in a country is to represent the authorities of his nation in the state in which he is accredited, to protect its nationals and to manage diplomatic relations.

On 12 September 2024, the new Chinese Ambassador to Belgium H.E. Mr. Fei Shengchao met with members of the Belgian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce (BCECC) in Brussels.
Ambassador Fei said that he was honored to be appointed as the 16th Chinese Ambassador to Belgium.
He gave an inspiring speech about China’s latest policies on deepening reforms and China-Belgium economic and trade cooperation, in the past, today and in the future.
He pointed out that both countries are currently going through many challenges, but he urged the audience to focus on the values that bring us together and he emphasized the importance of dialogue and openness.
The numerous Belgian and Chinese guests welcomed and congratulated Ambassador Fei with his new appointment, spoke positively of the prospects for the development of bilateral relations, and looked forward to further strengthening exchanges and cooperation in various fields between China and Belgium, for the benefit of the people of both countries.
He enthusiastically answered many questions from the audience during the Q&A session, giving illustration to this new openness from the Chinese authorities.
He welcomes Belgian citizens and businesspeople to visit China, underlining that this is the only way to deepen the people-to-people exchange and friendship between the two countries.
The extended visa-free policy for Belgian citizens and the numerous direct flight connections between Belgium and China are surely helping to make these exchanges much easier.
Ambassador Fei Shengchao is born in October 1973, holds a Master’s Degree of Law and is a member of the Communist Party of China.
He succeeds Ambassador Cao Zhongming who served as Ambassador to Belgium from September 2018 until February 2024.
Shortly after arriving in Belgium in the beginning of June 3, Ambassador Fei presented his credentials to King Philippe of Belgium.
At his speech in June, Ambassador Fei described his belief that, with the care and support of the two heads of state, the all-round friendly and cooperative partnership between China and Belgium will continue to make new progress and bring more benefits to the people of the two countries. King Philippe said that China’s tremendous development achievements are amazing, and Belgium is willing to work with China to continuously deepen the friendly cooperation between the two sides in various fields.
