Belgium’s Investment Outlook: Insights from EY

2026-06-26

Belgium continues to demonstrate its resilience as an investment destination. According to the latest EY Belgium Attractiveness Survey, 72% of executives expect Belgium’s attractiveness for foreign investment to improve over the next three years, despite an increasingly complex global economic and geopolitical landscape.

These findings were also highlighted during the 2026 Shenzhen (Nanshan) – EU Industrial Cooperation Matchmaking Meeting, where BCECC had the pleasure of welcoming Jef D’Hollander, Senior Manager at EY Belgium, as a keynote speaker.

Mr. D’Hollander shared valuable insights into the evolving EU trade policy, the changing EU-China trade relationship, and the regulatory developments that are shaping the international business environment. His presentation also highlighted key findings from the EY Belgium Attractiveness Survey, offering participants a deeper understanding of Belgium’s position as a destination for foreign direct investment.

Among the survey’s key takeaways:

  • Belgium remains among Europe’s top destinations for foreign direct investment.
  • The country’s greatest strengths continue to be its high-quality infrastructure, skilled workforce, and strong innovation ecosystem.
  • At the same time, energy costs, labour costs, and the regulatory environment remain important challenges for investors.

For companies active in Belgium-China business, these insights provide valuable context for navigating today’s evolving trade and investment landscape.
