Workshop: “How to receive Chinese Delegations?”

Receiving Chinese delegations can be a real challenge. You have developed a detailed program for the visit of a delegation, and the Chinese have agreed on it, but upon arrival they suddenly want to change everything.

This workshop deals with aspects related to receiving Chinese delegations, from the preparation before they arrive, the management of the visit, to the actions to be taken after the delegation has gone. Receiving a Chinese delegation must be part of a long-term strategy. Insight in the background of Chinese delegations visiting the West, their dealing with time and planning (or the lack of it), the sorts of Chinese delegations, their expectations, and practical aspects will help you to set the limits of hospitality. But more importantly, insight in reciprocity and mutual expectations will enable you to develop a long-term strategy and to arrive at a win-win situation.
