China recently reiterated its commitment to combatting climate change. It pledged to achieve carbon-neutrality by 2060 with its 14th Five-Year Plan which confirmed China’s long-term commitment to reducing the use of fossil energy and transitioning certain industries to low-carbon energy use. China also announced its national emissions trading scheme (ETS), a cap and trade system for greenhouse gas emissions which is expected to become the world’s largest carbon trading scheme.
How will China use its ETS to combat climate change? What are some possible consequences for Belgian companies in China, and how are they dealing with green energy solutions in Europe and China?
In order to inform people on this current topic, the Belgian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and China Europe International Business School (CEIBS) are delighted to announce their webinar “What China’s march to net-zero emissions means for European businesses” on May 20, 2021 at 11:00 CET (17:00 CST). We are honored to have Prof. Dr. Zhang Shuang, who has extensive knowledge on climate policy and environmental economics. To offer a business perspective, Bosal Emission Control Systems and John Cockerill will talk about green energy solutions in Europe and China.
