As a Structural Partner of Flanders Investment & Trade (FIT), the Belgian-Chinese Chamber of Commerce (BCECC) was delighted to attend their Flanders International Business Summit, held on November 5th and 6th at Brussels Airport’s Skyhall.
On November 6th, the BCECC hosted an insightful Expert Talk titled “Are there still business opportunities for Flemish companies in China?” The talk featured Stefan Blommaert, a seasoned former VRT journalist with years of experience reporting from China. Blommaert provided an in-depth analysis of China’s shifting economic and political environment, focusing on key developments from the Communist Party’s Third Plenary Session and China’s strategic focus on innovation and technological advancement.
Following Blommaert’s presentation, BCECC Chairman Bernard Dewit took the stage to highlight how Flemish companies can position themselves to seize new opportunities in China, despite the market’s evolving dynamics. Dewit emphasized that while challenges remain, China’s market continues to offer vast growth potential, especially in sectors aligned with China’s push for high-tech innovation and sustainable development.
The seminar concluded with a lively Q&A session where attendees had the chance to ask questions and delve deeper into specific aspects of doing business in China.
Beyond the Expert Talk, the Flanders International Business Summit offered a wealth of opportunities for networking and knowledge sharing. Attendees had the chance to learn from Keynote speakers such as Ralph Van Volsem and Peter Hinssen, as well as meet FIT’s economic and customs attachés from their international network during B2B speed-dates.
The BCECC was also present at the summit with a booth in the Chambers Bubble, where attendees could learn more about the growth opportunities in China and received personalized advice about their export ideas.
